Product Review: Philosophy The Oxygen Boost

There are a few words that always catch my eye in the description of beauty products--antioxidants and natural botanicals--being two. I picked up on those two ingredients first when I came across Philosophy's The Oxygen Boost Daily Energizing Elixir. Next came utter curiosity over the "oxygen" in this particular product. Was it a gimmick? It sounded like one. But I gave the product a spin.

The Claim: "Let skin breathe with the oxygen boost daily energizing oxygen elixir.  Detoxifying oxygen, antioxidants and natural botanicals inspire a radiant glow."

At first blush I planned to treat this like a serum and use it nightly. However, I began to think that with all the pollution in my lovely city, my skin could use a protective "veil of oxygen to energize, detoxify, and clarify my skin" as the product description claimed this concoction to be.

I can't say for sure whether the oxygen has anything to do with it, but this product makes my skin phenomenally smooth. I began applying it (a very small pea size amount) to my skin after cleansing, before moisturizer in the morning. It has been working as a primer for me for the last couple of months and provides a perfect canvas for my tinted moisturizer while also giving it staying power.

This little bottle of magic also cleared up a small breakout I was having and has given my skin a nice glow throughout the day (you know how obsessed I am with the glow). It has caffeine also, which calms my skin and reduces redness on days that my face is irritated.

I gave this product a try on a whim but I could definitely see myself re-purchasing it. The price tag is a little steep, however, if you're sensitive to piles of product and you love multi-tasking elixirs this could take the place of your primer and antioxidant serum in one fell swoop.
