Product Review: Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer with SPF 20

The season for bare legs and arms is looming and being the light-skinned lady I am, I'm already in hot pursuit of a sustainable, real-looking faux tan. I love a good afternoon in the sun as much as any girl but I don't love wrinkles, skin cancer, or sunburn - which I get often - so, this year I'm all about faking a glow and saving my skin. Enter my new favorite product.....

Jergens Natural Glow & Protect Lotion

The Claim: Get natural-looking color gradually, along with Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection with SPF 20.

The Good: First of all, I think it's fantastic that I can kill two birds with one stone - getting daily SPF on my often-neglected legs and getting some color. I hesitated to buy this because I tried the natural glow lotion (sans SPF) a couple of years back and the color was decidedly orange, not brown. I was pleasantly surprised this time around, however. The color looks natural and since it builds you can take a break between days and let it wash away some if you don't like the color that's forming. This product has been around for a while now but I really feel as though the formula is so much better in this version and adding the SPF is so smart. Obviously, I'd recommend stronger SPF for a day at the beach but for my walk to the office SPF 20 is great. I also love that there is very little, if any, noticeable "tan" smell and it doesn't rub off on my clothes at all.

The Bad: I don't really have any negative critique. The only drawback here is the color takes a few days to develop but if that is your concern, try a wipe such as Tan Towel to give instant color and use the the lotion in between to keep it up.

The Verdict: This is an affordable, natural-looking option for a faux tan. I love it.

  1. I've used the original formula for a few seasons now, and it didn't look orange on me if I alternated application with normal lotion. I would get those little orange splotches on my palms though. :) I'll have to check out the new SPF version.

  2. I think that's the key, Hope. I started alternating between this and some rich shea and cocoa butter-based body butter and it's been looking great!

  3. I've been thinking about purchasing this, but like you said... I purchased this a couple years ago, but didn't like the results. Good to hear this is different.
